Profile

Daryl Tayar has been an environmental campaigner since 1990 and is now doing a PhD on non-violent environmental direct action. The PhD focuses on the experience of UK Extinction Rebellion arrestees. One of the findings so far is that their arrest experiences have often been positive and empowering, strengthening their determination to take direct action. As well as having academic value, Daryl's aim is for the research to prove useful to social movements in general at this time of multiple, intersecting, and existential crises, to which the solution is likely to be a non-violent revolution leading to direct democracy.
