Cristina Puntaru is an environmental anthropologist currently studying emergent forms of sustainability practice in Hawaii. Her PhD project ethnographically explores how activists throughout Hawaiian social movements cultivate alternative environmental politics that aim for biodiversity conservation and self-determination. Cristina looks at the formation of grassroots alliances, the advancement of food self-sufficiency, and resilience to environmental and social risks.
